New Article: Conquered, We Conquer
by | 6/8/2009 5:59 AM
The Old One once again ventures forth with a scroll of ancient wisdom. This time he compares the mighty and numerous Gauls to the Bedsheet-clad Drinkers of Wine to determine exactly how such a tiny burg could bring itself to complete mastery over those barbarous tribes- this after it itself had been conquered by those self-same tribes. His work reveals many small differences, but when combined spelled doom for the Gallic tribes.
You may read this scroll to peruse his lengthy and thorough dissertation upon the matter.

New history article: Pyrrhus of Epirus
by | 5/23/2009 3:57 PM
Count Mummolus remains one of our most active historical content contributors and has now written an article examining the life of Pyrrhus of Epirus. Apart from being commemorated in the term Pyrrhic victory, this man achieved far more than the saying implies and was, as Count Mummolus shows us, in his time hailed as most like Alexander the Great 'in arms and in action' and probably viewed by Hannibal Barca as one of the greatest generals of all time. To find out more about this intriguing king, you can read the article here. You can discuss king Pyrrhus on our forum here.New Article: The Genius of Roman Military Organization
by | 5/18/2009 6:30 AM
The Old One once again studies the ways of our foes from the past. On this occasion the ancient Germanic turns his rheumy eyes to the Romans, and describes the evolution of the legions into the powerhouses that conquered a continent. But he goes further, and examines that same evolution occuring in modern armies- and how those evolutions parallel each other, though two millennia apart.Thou may peruse his scribblings here.
