Hocus Cadabra

by | 1/23/2011 5:40 AM

Yellow and Blue make Green. This is a known fact, which Aftermath and his paint set simply proved with their little experiment. Then, using his magical wand to remove the Blue from Purple, he found it produced Red. This was also fun, and he doused himself with this divine color.

Now he discovered the beauty of yellow. Without thinking, he grabbed the pot to mix with Blue, but slipped. The yellow fell all over him, and mixed with the still wet Red covering him. This created orange, a wonderful and magical color, which soon took root. His two wings became six, and much larger. The magical paint infused him with new powers, and when he went to report this mystical transformation to HussarKnight, EoJ, and Terikel, he found them laughing and toting the Banhammer.

"Its about time you figured out how to do that," Hussarknight said proudly.

"Welcome to the Six-Wings Club," echoed Terikel and EoJ. "We are building a shiny new heaven for you as we speak."

Afty stood in shock.

"Total War: Shogun 2 needs a Seraph, and you were selected," Hussar explained.

"Why do you think I left the paint out?" Terikel added.

"And why I sent you there to play," added EoJ.

Afty saw now the deviousness of the Seraphs. He stepped forward and shook their proffered hands as the Seraphs welcomed and congratulated him. You too can welcome and congratulate the newest TWH Seraph in this thread.

Terikel was daydreaming as he lazed in the Mighty Throne, idly waving the Wand of Imhotep about as he half-watched some crazy rabbit being chased by a vampire. He giggled as the rabbit sang a line of words, and repeated them to re-live the moment of comedy.

Unbeknownst to him, the safety cap of the wand had fallen off, and the wand was now pointed at the lands below. The Seraph's repetition of the magical phrase activated the mighty Wand, and a ray of vermillion raced downward to spear a poor sod who was leading his armies to victory. In that Emerald Moment, Punic Hoplite became more than a general.

Wings sprouted from his back, and a divinely green glow encased him. He moved from Mortal to Cherub in that instant. As per Heavenly rules, whoever made him must guide him, thus Punic Hoplite became a member of the Rome: Total War Staff.

Please welcome him in this thread.

Shogun 2 pre-order incentives

by | 1/20/2011 13:34 PM

SEGA has announced the pre-order incentives.

Players who pre-order at GameStop (online or in-store) will unlock and take part in The Historic Battle of Kawagoe. Set in 1545, the Battle of Kawagoe saw the Hõjõ clan launch a successful night time counter-attack against the besieging Uesugi, eschewing heavy armor and the collection of heads in favor of speed and stealth.

Those who pre-order at Best Buy (in-store only) will unlock 1,000 Koku, the currency used in Total War: SHOGUN 2. Player’s campaigns will begin with 1,000 Koku, allowing them to purchase new buildings, train new units and upgrade their towns.

An extra battle sounds nice, but the money bonus sounds like a game-spoiler to me as it'll make the early campaign easier. What do you think? Share your thoughts on the forums.

Faction Feature 3: Uesugi

by | 1/12/2011 9:53 AM

CA has released a new faction feature, detailing the religious Uesugi clan:

The mon of the Uesugi clan.

The Uesugi are proud of their Buddhist faith. They can recruit and maintain warrior monks far more cheaply than any other clan. They can also recruit much better fighting monks and more effective monk agents than any other clan. Despite this religious solidarity, the history of the Uesugi is not tranquil. The current Uesugi leaders were originally the Nagao clan of Echigo, and were vassals to the Yamanouchi faction of the Uesugi clan. The Nagao fought alongside their masters against the Ogigayatsu, another part of the Uesugi clan, in a bitter dispute.

by | 1/8/2011 4:25 AM

Hail, Fellows and Peers!

The XI Annual Awards presentation has been enscribed upon the walls of the Red Lion Tavern. Thou may peruse its runes by having thy hairless rodent chew upon these runes.

The tale begins in the Tavern, and ventures from there to Romeburg, then to Medieval times, then returns to the Tavern before traveling to the Ompee Rompee and returning to the Heavens.

Congratulations and felicitations to all who received honors, been nominated for honors, and to all who cast their votes.
