Announcing: The TWH Community Modpack!

by | 8/27/2010 10:59 AM

The TWH staff would like to proudly unveil a community modpack, Dark Ages: Roman Revival. This will be a detailed mod for Rome: Total War - Barbarian Invasion set in an alternate 500 AD where the Western Roman Empire has survived and is struggling to find a place in this new world. Best of all, this mod will be made by us, the community. Have you ever wanted to learn to mod, but never gotten around to it? Now is your opportunity to be involved in a major mod project with the rest of the TWH community! We will need people of all talents - believe me when I say that no matter where your skills may lie, even if you have no experience whatsoever with mods, we will welcome you onto the team and you will be a part of this mod. Historians, artists, coders, playtesters, even people who are just good at coming up with ideas - you will all find a place in the Community Modpack. The staff has spent the past couple of weeks ironing out a setting and now we want to turn it over to the community for a brainstorming period. And after a few weeks....we begin modding! We hope to see you on our team! To find out more, visit the mod's official thread.

New History Article: A Few Important British & Irish Tribes

by | 8/26/2010 15:21 PM

Once again Cherub Edorix turns his gaze with longing towards his homeland of days gone by, this time penning brief histories of the seven most important tribes of Late Iron Age Britain and Ireland. The inscribed lore can be viewed here.

Feedback, positive and, if you must, negative, belongs in this thread.

New Poll on RTWH

by | 8/18/2010 8:48 AM

After months of relative inactivity, we at TWH are trying to kick-start our polling. First up, which TWH site do you visit most often?

We will try to leave the polls open for two months only, then close and replace them with the next.

Do you have a poll idea? Send it to Terikel and he'll consider it, or post it as a reply here. Who knows? The next poll might have been your idea...

Two old warhorses stepping down, two new stallions in the stable

by | 8/14/2010 18:41 PM

I am the bearer of sad news as well as good.

Two seraphs are stepping down and two are stepping up.

Firstly, we would like to thank Yak for his efforts in the nearly four years he has been staff at HG. We wouldn't have M2TWH & ETWH without his efforts and he was the staff member I always looked up to before and when I became staff. When I started the M2TWH history section, I knicked the code off his painstakingly built strategy section. We'll miss his humour & skills on the TWH staff team.

The other seraph stepping down is me. Unfortunately RL gets in the way sometimes and the end was nigh when my employer finally blocked access to HG at work. It is just not possible to devote enough time to justify my staying on as seraph. However, I can still be of use and will be staying on in what is surely my natural colour (red that is)!

EnemyofJupitor has been a long time TWH'er and long time staff member of both BFME2H and TWH. He's already in orange so it won't be much of a stretch for him to take on the running of TWH with the other two seraphs. EoJ will be directly responsible for M2TWH. He's vastly experienced in this game and was the ladder leader until the arrival of Swamprat.

Terikel is of more recent vintage. He has been staff since Christmas day 2008 and has done untold amounts of work for RTWH as well as other sections of the site, such as the Bardic Circle. He will be looking after RTWH.

Please congratulate/say farewell to them in this thread.

New Article: Warships of Mare Nostrum

by | 8/9/2010 6:30 AM

The Old One has once again dribbled ink upon parchment to bring to thee knowledge. This time he has turned his quill to a study of the better-known vessels that plied Our Sea during the time of Our Game.

Thou mayst peruse his scribblings here.

As always, praises and honors are to be left upon this scroll. If thou does wish to complain or deliver criticism, then, sadly, you may leave those words upon that selfsame scroll.

Rome Total War Heaven Clan launched!

Edorix has been working hard over the last few weeks to bring the multiplayer forum back to life. Doing away with the long outdated Ladder stickies, he has created a new contact database, casual challenge thread, and now at last a Clan.

For more information about the new RTWHeaven Clan, see here.
