Hello

My problem is the following: my game crashes back to desktop during campaign. It occurs randomly. Just today I was roaming the map when suddenly it fell out. I have this many times. I am now playing only one campaign, I have no saves from other campaigns, my unit scale is on huge included with huge detail for the troops, but other than that things like grass and vegetation are on medium.

To begin with, my Rome Total War game was bought when it came out, so it isn't downloaded However, I am using DarthMod v9.1. It already fell out sometimes before I had this mod, but after I had downloaded RTW patch 1.5

My computer:
Windows XP Professional (5.1, build 2600)
Hewlett-Packard
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
2022MB RAM
660MB used, 3253MB available
DirectX 9.0c

I don't think it is your rig.

CTDs are mostly caused by software. Sometimes a bad calculation can cause one, but 99.9999% of the time it is a corrupted file.

I would check the mod first, the RTWH.

What was your original version? 1.0 patches to 1.2, 1.2 patches to 1.3, 1.3 1.3 to 1.5.

BI patches 1.4 to 1.6. If installing BI dumbed down your 1.5 to 1.3, patch BI to 1.6. This will return your 1.5 RTW back to 1.5.

Applying the patches in the wrong order can wreak havoc, like CTDs.

My DarthMod was legit and installed directly from Rome total war Center. I followed the instruction closely so it would surprise me if the mod has something to with it.

"What was your original version? 1.0 patches to 1.2, 1.2 patches to 1.3, 1.3 1.3 to 1.5.
"

My original version was version 1.0

After that I had patched 1.0 to 1.3, and then I downloaded patch 1.3-1.5. After that, after some days, I eventually downloaded DarthMod.

"BI patches 1.4 to 1.6. If installing BI dumbed down your 1.5 to 1.3, patch BI to 1.6. This will return your 1.5 RTW back to 1.5."

I don't have BI. It's the original Rome Total War with the 3 installation CD's

Files can get corrupted under transfer, or even while sitting prettily on your hard drive. All it takes is for one zero to be read as a 1 and the file is toast. It has nothing to do with legitimacy.

It sounds like you did everything right, which means there must be a file corruption somewhere. The game itself is stable enough, though a missing sprite file (or a failure to generate one) could still cause problems).

File corruptions are easy to fix- re-installing usually cures it. If you have modded heavily, I would suggest you save your text files (RTW\Data) or install a second copy of RTW. Test that for CTD's, and if that works, then mod it back.
