EDIT: Well, I got my original question answered a while back, but now I have a couple other questions about the game itself, and I don't want to spam this forum with threads.
Current question: Why am I getting ridiculously high unrest modifiers in my cities, even some of my starting ones? (See a few posts down for more detail)

I'm using the BI exe, and I can't start a campaign, gives "select a value from the list" box. When I exit game, this error message appears:

Script Error in:
xc/data/world/maps/campaign/barbarian_invasion/descr_strat.txt, at line 24, column 1.

Expected start date of campaign or battle.

You need BI patch 1.6.

Yep, that's what I needed. Updating the game always helps

Which XC version did you install?

Uh, the installer was titled XC_Delta v1.15.

Another question: When I conquer a city that has the "local factional government," is there any disadvantages to leaving it there? (Other than culture penalty)

If the people are happy, leave it. Otherwise demolish it and build lower level government buildings, which have greater happiness bonuses. Thats about it, though if you want to play historical like demolish it.

OK, another question I can't be bothered to make a new thread about. For my first XC campaign, with Rome, a lot of my cities have huge amounts of unrest modifiers (70% or more), even a couple of my starting cities. Rome itself even has 15% unrest, although that's very manageable. Isn't unrest supposed to come with newly conquered cities, then gradually subside? What's the cause for these huge unrest modifiers?

Some of your FM may have unrest generating traits, shouldn't be a problem in Italy though.
