Recently Ive been hooked on the superb Historic Battles mod (v.2.5). Last night I installed the RTW patch (v1.2) and now the game crashes whenever I try to play any Historic Battles scenario. On the plus side RTW plays much better and more realisticly with the patch installed, but it would be good to also have my HB mod working again. Any ideas? (Ive tried deleting and reinstalling the mod)
Thanks

dude, you gotta wait for the new version of the mod that works on 1.2, the mod version you have is for RTW 1.1

The patch changed either the placements of the maps seed or the unit locations in general so all my battles now have wrong unit placements and or maps which makes ALOT of errors so game refused to load it up... Sadly I cannot fix it easely by changing some text so I basically have to recreate the battles which probably will be easier using the editor. So instead of next update which I wanted out soon, I'll have to recreate all battles first which takes a bit of time so it works for new patch, then later modifiations for existing battles and possible new ones which will be the official v2.6

Thanks for the responses to this problem, especially to NinjaCool for his technical explanation. I'll be patient and wait for the next version.
Ninj. I just wanted to say how much I/we appreciate you're Historic Battles mod. Last year I watched a BBC-TV programme about the Romans v The Brits (at Wattling Street)..and for weeks after that I would try to puzzle out how the Brits could possibly have lost that battle, and how they might have fought it differently. Then along came RTW, and then you're great mod, and hey presto! I'm the commander of the Brits fighting the Roman invader warmongers at Wattling Street (and the Brits still lose! - most of the time!)
Thanks again
T.

hehe thx Tinfish I try my best to make the battles as historic as possible right down to the individual placements of the units on the battlefield itself and terran features
For an update I found an easier way to make MOD compatable with current patch so probably next early week I'll have a fix out
Nice one ninja. But its weird, your Mod still works for me... Any possible way this could happen.

Ninj. Just one point. On the BBC TV programme the presenter said that the Romans were in classic V formation, i.e. a jagged edge formation was created in the front line to act as a cutting edge.
Maybe you could check on that and add it to your next versio

The_Ferret: Thats very srange because it doesnt work for me when in installed patch... Are you 100% sure you have the new patch v1.2 from CA installed same place as the historic battles MOD? If so how did you install so it works s? Just applies patch on HB MOD and it worked for you??
Tinfish: I'll have a look into it but it might be that the romans made that formation as they where already under attack from the ambush.

Hi again Ninj,
I'm not sure if you've seen this extract from the BBC-programme website:
"..Using their wedge formation the Roman army were able to crush the Britons at the front rank and their very numbers meant their own army [the Brits] crushed them from behind. With no room to manoeuvre, the Britons were defeated in one of the bloodiest massacres seen on British soil.
The Romans killed women, children and babies as well as the Iceni warriors. Tacitus reports that the Roman army lost 400 men while some 80,000 Britons were killed that day, making it one of the greatest tragedies in human history".

Ferret. Whats on you're system?
I'm running:
Windows XP pro (SP1, not SP2) AVG anti-virus Sygate firewall
Also, is RTW installed in the default directory on you're PC?
Thanks

Ferret,
One more question: When u installed the patch, did u select USA (English) or UK (English) as the language option? (I know this might sound trivial but I'm trying to make sure I follow the exact same install setup as yourself when installing the 1.2 patch

Sure beats me whats up as i cannot see how its possible to work when v1.2 as it changes the way the maps are done apparently. Like now I must have premade maps done (about 2Mb but I have a fix for ignoring this for some battles) for each map or else it will crash for me. I have 8 working maps with v1.2 currently. some of the battles actually works with v1.2 like Pharasus and specific Londinium since I was forced to make a premade map because of the presence of a fort This means that next version will be a bit bigger in MB.
