1) My dogs are running after the enemy. I try to get them to attack something else and they don't respond to commands, even though they are highlighted. Is this normal? Once, my prized general was surrounded by a pack of dogs and I tried to get the rest of my army to attack the dogs, but the dogs could not be targeted. Why is that? After five minutes of fighting dogs by himself while the 1000 member army stood by helplessly, (that's realism!) my 8 star general died. Nice. If you're going to tell me I need to attack the dog handlers, this is a joke, because they were not even around.
2) What happened with boats since 1.1? Sometimes I can merge them, but most of the time I can't. I get a merge screen, but the ships on both sides are greyed out. This is even when I try to merge two fleets of one ship each. What rules are now in place for being able to merge and not merge? Do they have to be the exact same type of boat? Can they not have admirals manning them? I was trying to attack an enemy fleet with three ships in it, and I ended up having to surround it with 3-4 of my ships, so that they could all get in on the battle. It's a lot harder now to target enemy fleets. They have to be surrounded on all sides to insure a victory. No more 'one fleet with 20 boats in it' against the enemie's 'one fleet with 20 boats in it' battles. That's fine, but I need to know what the fleet combining rules are for naval combat in 1.2
3) I was at war with Gaul. I spotted a town with a Gaul flag. I clicked on my army to attack them, and I get this message "do you want to attack your ally?'. I thought this was a bug. So I ended up attacking them. All of a sudden the town becomes Bruti, who I was previously allied with. Huh? I had spent a lot of time building up an alliance with Bruti and suddenly I was at war with them and completely blew my overall strategy.
4) How can I know if my army is going to go into an 'ambush' position at the end of its movement points? There seems to be no way to tell. It's guesswork. And what is the difference between an ambush position and a 'out of movement' position on the visuals? They both look identical to me. The army is crouched. It would be nice if I could plan an ambush and know 'before' taking the move, that they may or may not be in ambush position. I do know how to check the terrain type, but this doesn't insure an 'ambush' position.
