What good will it do for you to have a "better" family member as faction leader? I'd just leave it be. If you are really really desperate to get rid of a unit you cannot disband put it on a lone bireme and attack a large navy. I can't believe I told you that........

but if an already good character becomes the faction leader, then his management and command and influence are better. Makes a really good character.

Send your faction hier out into the feild and leave him imoble for awhile. It might give him the 'spartan' or 'energetic' traits.

Your faction leader/heir doesn't get better management. They get influence. Check their traits, hover mouse over the trait, all you get is more influence. I'd still say you are better off with your current faction leader alive as he can't be a bad character.
