Is there any interest in me making a spreadsheet that helps sort out how and what traits/ancillaries you can get?

export_descr_character_traits.txt and export_descr_ancilliaries.txt in the data folder. You could have a go and upload it yourself. Otherwise, just have a look in the files.

Yeah I know, I was talking about organizing them into an easy reference.

I'd be interested in one. What I want to know most is how you get certain traits and ancillaries. Does anyone know?

Then do so.
I might download it.
But if you want one, do it. If anyone else downloads it, that's just a bonus.

I'd download it. I don't know even all what ancillaries or traits a character can get, so definetly go for it!

I'd be interested in a list. I download and print off anything to do with RTW.

This sounds like an interesting one. I've never looked too closely at this aspect of the game.

I shall have to start reading them more. Damn - all my games are going to take that much longer now! If you create a list that will shorten my games again, because I'll already have read them!

Thanks Deadfrog. At least you triggered a good find for many of us.

That's the trouble with this internet thingy - more powerful than a 10 star Faction Leader with a full stack of everything you could wish for!

Yeah, a link to those files should be placed right on the homepage right away!

Thanks for the link Ahmose... Some of the info isn't correct. Like "Barb Slave" is used instead of Barb Turncoat". Its also an incomplete list... But there is a spreadsheet there so Its a good tool anyway since you can just revise it into a list rather than 15 pages of stuff... I turned it into a 2 page list, with 2 columns - Ancillary/Effect and Trait/effect. Much quicker reference.

I think the effects are good to know, but the real treasure is in knowing the right triggers! I still hold by my simple retinue factory strategy; two three city clusters each with a scriptorium or ludus magna, farming ancillaries.

There IS a barb slave. It's a woman and it gives influence (I guess she "entertains" important guests you have).

Is there any negative effect when changing the faction heir. The old heir gets the "disinherited" trait, but usually they have 10+ influence wreaths so it doesn't matter. But does it change their game personality, such as making them insane?
