Great forum, best one I've found since it answered my newb questions. Good job guys/mods.

Didn't see an answer to this one.

Is there a way to dismiss retinues? There are some I just don't want.

Hello junkertubs!
Glad you like the forums!

The answer to your question is no, you cannot permanently destroy them.

Thankfully though, if you bring 2 family members in to one city (so the bad retinued family member and a family member you don't care about) you can put all the bad retinues on 1 family member and good ones on the other. Then send the rubbish family member out to a battle he can't win. He dies and the retinues die with him.

-Hope this helps,

Ave, fellow RTW Fan! Welcome to Rome: Total War Heaven!

I guess I'm repeating what has been said, but no, you cannot get rid of retinues. Again, you can transfer them to an unimportant family member.

If you have any old people about to die, transfer the retinues to them, and they will die with him.

/\ Very good advice. Also get his good retinue to a young man. Turncoats, decent priests, most historical characters and traders in particular are very good to supplement traits.

You have to have another character in the same army or city. You simply open their character scroll and drag it over to the other character.

monkeys help alot, but can the monkey be killed?
i like the transfer trait thing alot
now when i have an old diplpmat, spy, or general, i take him back home and transfer his things to a young person
if i have a good young general i give him the ones that increase comand, if i have some1 with lots of the other 2, i give him things that increase those soi have lots of young uber generals.

and after a batle which only my general survived(literaly, i had 1 unit left, just my general on the field his body gaurd died)but after the batle it said my general died of old age or something...he was 34...

Would it be possible to transfer a Spy, Assassin or Diplomat's retinues to a family member?

Obviously not, how can a family member have Subterfuge ratings?
