Has anyone here ever tried playing using the general camera mode? It's something different to try from a normal rts, but it is bit hard to control your troops (albeit undoubtably that is part of the idea) It is cool, though, to watch your general atop an elephant to move around and see a massive battle raging

I used it once. I couldn't beat the AI on VH with it on. I had to lower it to hard, and even then it was a challenge.

It's probably a good way to increase the difficulty of the campaign.

Are we talking restricted camera or is there a First person mode?!

It restricts your camera to your actual general. Kind of click selecting your general's bodyguard and pressing "delete". It's supposed to give you a general's point of view.

Options - Camera Settings.

That, or in-battle, select your general's unit and hit the Delete key. This allows you to toggle it on and off during a battle.

I know there's a way to do set it like that in the campaign map, at least I think there is...but I can't find the scroll

The old TW camera is both fun and challenging too. It's great to be able to dip real low and see the battle close up but it also makes control of troops a bit harder than the RTS camera (TW camera is a bit jerky).

The full-time general camera is lame. I suppose it can add some difficulty, but it's a silly way to do it.

Although following your general as he charges into the enemy can be cool, as can watching the battle from your general's vantage point high on a nearby hill.

Just don't let your general route. Otherwise you're stuck at the edge of the map, which forces you to... *shiver* put your army under AI control...

It's a big challenge, if you are going to use two forces in the same battles you will have to leave one to be controlled by the A.I., which sounds pretty historical to me, they will probably screw up as it usually happened in real battles.

Please excuse my english, it's the lack of use.

That's when you select all your forces and click the Withdraw button

That's actually a really good point.
