Thanks RTS_Gamerguy. Didnt see that hidden away in there - i'm still in 1024x768 but have dropped the quality from 32 bit to 16 bit. The mouse isnt perfect but there has been a noticeable improvement (whew!). If anyone knows of any files I can tinker with to turn off the animations let me know - i'd much rather have a high frame rate than cutesy graphics!!

16-bit and 32-bit colour has NO effect on performance. I've tried it on my 9800SE, which is around 2-3 times the speed of your card, and the difference in frame rate is zero - occasionally I even got an increase of 1.

Geez Firefox isn't that missing the point? We all don't have graphics cards that strong. Of course a phat card won't bottleneck on 16 versus 32.

On a card like mine it makes a difference, not huge but noticeable. I've found a Radeon R9600XT for a mere £95 (i say "mere" in light of its performance), so i've decided to go for broke and upgrade.

Change the antilice (can't remember wat it's called) at the top in the video menu to none (it makes a significant amout of diffrence but it still lags a little)
