Well, the forum parties seemed to go pretty well today. We didn't get many people at the morning showing, and I left before the second game at 7 started, but there were 4 people there, which should have been a good game, with Kman hosting a seige battle, in which he claims to be kickass in.
The first battle was a pretty good one. I as the Carthaginians, Mace as the Seleucids, and Adder as the Macedonians duked it out in a 3-way. I used my onager to send a couple of boulders Mace's way as he was closest, and provoked the whole swarm. He tried to flood all his cavalry into one point of my thin phalanx line while his infantry lagged behind. They were routed when I sent my Lybian Spearmen to strengthen the line, collapsed that part of the line in on him and hit his flanks with my cav and elephants. Meanwhile I tried to harrass Adder's Onagers, successfully crippling two, while he crippled mine. I took on Mace's infantry, trying to make his lines as chaotic as possible with my eles, but eventually got into a long fight with him in which I took some heavy casualties. He also managed to get some cavalry and his own elephants to stop routing and attack with them again, as short lived as the attack was, he still managed to cause even more heavy casualties. I routed Mace soon after while routing two of Adder's cavalry units that were harrassing my lines. Now I marched on Adder who dispatched me in short order by nailing me with volleys from his Cretan Archers and almost as soon as our infantry lines met, his three units of cavalry killed my general, who's bodyguard quickly routed. He then took my lines apart with several charges straight into my flanks. Adder won the battle, and I had caused the most casualties with 740ish, Mace with 370ish since he didn't have artillery and tried to rush my lines to avoid being blown to peices by my art, and Adder with 290ish since he only had me to clean up after the big fight, which he did as ruthlessly and effectively as possible. We just need Kman or someone else to give us news about the 7 O'clock fight and see how that went.
I hope more of you guys participate next time. If not in the morning then at the evening. We need to make these parties after all! Not just shindigs!
