I auto-resolve when it's impossible to win; that is, when I'm outnumbered at least 10:1 and the enemy's units are anything better than peasants.

I use it when the battle isn't going to be much fun, when I outnumber the enemy 5-1 for instance. Also, I NEVER auto-resolve if the AI has a lot of chariots, especially an Briton or Egyptian chariot-general. Even if you win, youŽll lose an enormous amount of men! However, it works the other way around as well. Just take some Briton or Egyptian chariot-generals -ever 1 is enough-, send them attacking an full stack enemy army, and they'll either win or survive and take out half the enemy army. I know, its dirty.... anyone else noticed this?
