I'm playing a campaign as the germans, h/vh, and I was allied with the Julii and the Senate. Well, I took (I forgot the name . . . northeastern corner of Italy, directly south of a pass in the Alps, just north of that big river)from the rebels, and was really happy since it had a huge population, thus absorbing much of the costs for my armies, and it provided me with a dependable source of trade in the Med. Sea. Apparently, however, the Romans wanted that city since they immediately besieged me with a full army. Since I had my best general and the bulk of my elite troops there, not to mention lots of spear warbands, I crushed them fairly easily.
However, the Thracians, who were allied with both me and the Brutii, didn't attack the Brutii, which they tend to do if one of their allies attacks another. Also, the Brutii(and occasionally the Julii) keep sending full armies with uber generals. The Brutii are also vigorously attacking one of my formerly-Dacian provinces and the Julii keep sending full armies to attack me in Gaul. And yet, somehow, they can afford to attack me vigourously in that one area.
After a few heroic victories, I started keeping track of how many romans they lost on that one city. My count now is almost to ten thousand! How?! How can they afford this?! Don't they have any other enemies?! Are they draining cities? Why didn't Thrace support me? How many generals do I have to kill before they run out of family members?!
The main problem is with the Brutii, 'cause I think I killed off most of their family . . .
