For a module at university, we have a pre-production module, and I'm going to do a visual trip through history from the downfall of the Etruscans (starting in 500BC when they lose Latium due to their defeat by the Greeks of Cumae) to the downfall of Rome (in 476AD), and I want to use the music from RTW in the animatic I make (the music would be great...it would suit the expansion of Rome in the animatic, and all the battles by Alexander The Great, by Carthage, etc). Would it be wise to ask CA about being able to use some of their music? Or, is it possible I could ask the people behind RTR if they could let me use some of their music? I'm asking here because I don't want to do anything illegal or infringe copyright or whatever. I definitely don't want to get banned from RTWH.

The best way to go about it is to use the music... but also say you got the music from (CA) so you don't get chucked in jail.

You can purchase the soundtrack. I think it's legal to pull out the music from Rome Total War if you've purchased the game, which it's apparent you did. You have to credit CA with the composition however. For educational purposes, citing and giving credit to the source of any part of your project is usually enough.

Thanks for the replies. I got the game as a Christmas present, so yes, it's a legal copy. I was hoping to be able to use the music...it really would suit the animatic. And I'll make sure I give credit to CA. Thanks again.
