Playing as the Julii I moved a small army onto the island of Caralis to take the city of Caralis. When my army got close to Caralis (at about the point where it would be likely for them to see my army approaching) they sent a transgression message. It was to the effect of; "Your actions are profitless and tiresome. We have taken note of your behaviour." I attacked Caralis on the same turn.
I've never gotten one of these messages before, what do they mean? Should they be taken seriously?

Some should be take seriously, espessially if it hinders the breaking of an important alliance. But transgressions aout half the time ends up that way. I usually dont mind it.

If you were allied to Carthage then I can see it happening. But out of nowhere is very strange. That could also result in damaging your relationship with the senate if you are trepassing.

I imagine only allies and factions friendly to the Senate would threaten you like that. But don't worry, the Senate never has you stop a war you've already engaged, but takes your side.

I got it once as the E Roman Empire in BI going through Goth territory, but they were neutrale to me. Oh, and sometimes you get it from annoying them through diplomicy.

I've only ever had it when I either bribed a neutral army or character in view of an enemy or had an army move to attack a neutral city and could only make it to the city's zone of control.

I generally just toss Transgression messages to the side. Nothing happens if you ignore them. Nothing really bad anyway.
Yeah, well the Senate asked me to attack Caralis so they weren't friendly with the Senate. They were neutral with me when I attacked, I had nothing to do with them, not even trade rights.
But it seems that everything is fine, I've taken Caralis and Lilybeaum (sp?) from them and they still haven't launched a proper attack on me. I just found it strange because after hours of playing ver. 1.0 I've never gotten a similar message.
