Anyone notice at the very beginning of a roman campaign that there are SPQR generals standing outside of Rome? Two of them don't have Roman names or look roman. They look more Greek to me.

That's not so strange. When the Romans invaded Greece the pretty much so sponged up its culture. The timeline is tad off, as I'm not sure the Romans had conquered Greece at the time, but I'm not sure about that.

He's clean-shaven like a Roman, though.

That makes me think of a question, though. Beards were popular for the Greeks, but Alexander made his army shave for close combat. Did his tradition spread into Greece and more specifically into civilian society?
