This irritates the hell out of me. After the faction leader dies, the faction heir is now faction leader, then the computer automatically chooses a new faction heir. Well, what if I don't WANT that dude as the new faction heir, or at least not yet! If I change faction heir after it predetermines one, then the general being demoted loses influence. Pisses me off...is there another way?

can't you select a new faction heir in the family tree tab when you go to the Faction menu? I know i can...

May not be a historically accurate game, but at least I can deliniate who I want to be the next heir rather than having to demote the auto-selected one. If I'm playing as emporer, by golly I want to choose the heir!

Just take it as part of the game. Throughout history not always has the best leader got into power, as happens here.
It makes the game more historical accurate but also more challenging as you have to use a guy you dont really like and learn how to use his strengths.
