Hi Cartage,
I will be on later tongiht mate and would love to show you my counter to this. Answer in short, use Rome, have more archers, wih archer war, then pile arrows into back of units on one or 2 flanks. When arrows run out, use ALL pila to do same. ie. into side or back of same flanks.
Attack main front and one weakenned flank and have your horse ready to try to smash through. If you have horse positon them ready go and take advantage of any breach.
With arrows (key to this battle) pila (crucial) and a few (not too many) horse you will get inside circle or box and then its game over.
But mate, no better way than to show you what i mean.
Sorry Scippi, but if you use your greek cav of any kind against my pretorian cav, they will lose, gauranteed. Horse by themselves, same with eles just will die quickly if you charge spartans or other decent spearman.
Badgerius, no mate, they are noobs (as much as i hate that word). No good player uses that tactic as its plain boring and not skillful. It does take some effort to beat though, thats why its a noob favourite. Onagers are indeed a soluton, but 9 times out of 10 the player will make a no art rule. I appreciate rules, somehting which i never used to do, but not rules that just give an advantage to one particular army or method of playing. Rules like no art, no ele, max 6 are in essence designed to make a fair and balanced game. Rules like one i saw the other day..well, leave me speachless. Get this... no rome, no archers/slingers, no spearman, no chariots, no HA, max 6 horse. He went Germany. What faction could i use to beat this ? I mean honestly....that is just purely set up to make him win a game. I left and didnt bother playing. Hmmmm....must be Friday, im feeling angry and need to let it all out...
