I've never thought about it, but having missile units when playing in Huge Scale is undoubtly advantageous and different than playing in another scale.
In Huge Scale, as your unit has more missile soldiers, which means more arrows, they can kill more men as the enemy has also more soldiers in his units. More enemy soldiers in a unit, less missing arrows!

This a great advantage when playing in Huge Scale. I love arrows!

Agreed, it is different. In some other ways as well. The biggest one is the time factor where it takes a lot longer to rout or be routed, which suits players that like more time to manuovere (sorry cant spell well). Likewise, moving that many troops takes a lot longer so your set up has to be good from the start. Onagers and other art are no where near as effective as a direct hit may take out 5% of a unit as opposed to 25% of a unit...and im sure there are more.

Huge scale also makes it laggy as hell

Defence becomes easier, phalanxes can occupy entire streets and bridges and not be stretched thin and archers can be spread over a greater distance.

It only makes it laggy if your computer can't handle it.
