Quite a diffucult question to answer as money available would make a big difference. Assuming that money was not an issue, id take
Urbans - as they can beat pretty much any heavy infantry. Spartans - to take care of horse, chariots, or eles, and beserkers.
Cataphracts as they pretty much beat any horse unit and many/most heavy infantry.
Cant find room for chariots, however they would be useful in most armies.
A few very tasty combinations would be
1. A roman army that had eles.....pretty much unstoppable.
2. A Greek army that had Catas, also almost unstoppable.
3. A selucid army that had urbans and/or spartans.
I think that although silver sheild pikemen are quite good, they would have no place in an elite army (as per this thread)...simply because they will get whipped by urbans, spartans, sacred band fairly easily. Why include them if there are better units for doing the same thing ?
