I have been wandering around the old world, within 20 years, i have managed to capture most of the cities in the western hemisphere, the Greek peninsula, and also the northern Germania tribe. I need to ask for opinions, is it a good idea to wipe out factions till it is still early(it is only 241bc), or would it be much better if i would lay low till the mid 180-150s?
Currently, I am brutally marching through the desert of Libya for the siege of Siwa, in hopes of eradicating the Egyptian empire.

Why not wipe them out? For the way I play, most campaigns will by finished by 215-225 BC, and involve many civilisations being destroyed.

I'd say it's all about your particular gameplay style and how you get the most fun out of the game.
My absolute favorite way to play RTW is as the Julii. I take Segesta(as the Senate asks), Patavium, Mediolanium, Caralis, Massilia, and Luvavum asap at the outset of the game. I then proceed to sit there and build stuff while defend my cities from constant barbarian attacks until the Marian reforms. (Patavium can actually usher in the Marian reforms pretty quickly if it's built to do so.) After that I blitz through Gaul and Spain, then hit the Britons. This typically gives me enough land to incite the civil war. Then I fight off the other romans and the rest of the world until I am proclaimed victorious. I like it that way because it gives me the opportunity to use the legions a lot rather than a few battles in the end game, or finishing before I can even train them.
