Hi,
Are civil wars always the other two faction against you, or is there a way to work it so it's everyone against everyone, or even better one of the other guys and me against the third faction?
I'm playing as the Scipii for my third campaign ever and my first on very hard. The Julii have expanded really well, and the Brutii have done pretty good, as well. I absolutely don't want to face both of them at the same time. Together, they could crush me like a Campania grape.

Im Bruti and im at war with all the other romans. I forget if im in medium or hard mode. but the point is that they really dont bother u so much. The senate never really leaces there borders and the other factions never go on big conquereing raids on your lands. And as soon as u take there italian capitals they become exponentialy weaker. I destroyed Julli's holdings in Italy and Gaul took care of the rest. Dont be afraid, unlike the other countries these guys dont really go to war with u. they just attempt to conquer any of ur cites that they happen to run into. there just push overs. The biggest danger is losing ur ships to their relentless navy or forgeting to beef ur italian capital city with troops cuz thats one of the only places they go out of there way to attack.

The first thing i do as any roman is capturing the provinces the others are supposed to expand to first. The civil war is easy if everybody just has 2 cities.

I am not sure but if you try to destroy the Senate before it starts the civil war itself(by demanding death of your faction leader), it could destroy all the alliances and probably they attack each other.
I am not sure thought becuase I have never done this. Its justr a theory.

if you are the scipii the best way is to go for kroton and tarentum first. after that you have to look if it makes sense to take rome asap or go for the julii cities in northern italy first - depends on what the julii are doing atm, if you take the 5 largest julii cities out you will have a high income and an easy time to deal with them. i wouldnt overestimate the barbarians cause the julii destroy them quite fast imo and its not recommendable to go for the brutii in greece/macedon only with a strong julii in the back
