Hi new to the game, first post, and all that standard stuff and I was wondering if I could get some input from more experienced players. Basically, my question is whether I should fight out my sieges myself or just push the button and let the computer do it for me. The latter isn't as fun, but I've fought several hundred battles at this point and the ai and pathing during sieges is just driving me nuts.
The civil war has broken out for my current campaign, and I attacked a Brutii city, me being Julii, with two armies. It was over two thousand of mine to barely 300 enemy. After twenty minutes of watching my legionaries mill around the siege towers like ants, never actually scaling the walls mind you, and my "reinforcements" twiddle their thumbs in a bunch of pointless skirmishes, the ultimate result was a crushing defeat.
I nearly broke my computer at that point, but thought better of it, reloaded my last auto save and this time did the auto resolve. Clear victory. I've been playing RTS games for over ten years, and I'm not bad at them. I can maneuver a zergling rush, make mechs dance and guide Nod to final victory over GDI, but for some reason the simple matter of getting three or four units to climb a ladder or walk through a gate is beyond me. So I'm asking those with more experience them I if I should keep at it and eventually I'll get the tricks down, or is the buggy pathing too much for most people. Basically, is it the game, or is it me?
