Do you think Empire will totally destroy RTW, and this forum? Post thoughts here.

Probably not.
But then again, I've been a member here since a few months after RTW was released. When M2TW came out there was a distinct drop in numbers of people that visited the RTW forums. Its grown again now, but I'm pretty sure the same thing will happen when ETW is released.

I agree with all of the above. I for one will not be getting ETW for some time, because I don't want my computer to explode. I played a bit of M2TW and went back to RTW. I am sure there will be many people who do much the same with ETW.

Are they just not going to add a ETW forum to this?

I haven't seen any firm minimum/recommended machine configurations for Empire yet. I've read somewhere that we'll only need DirectX 9, rather than 10, so there is a little hope that somewhat "older" machines can play it - but which?
Apparently it's already a given that the graphics will be awesome. But that means more horsepower in the players' computers. So how many people have bought or assembled their computer in the last year or so, with top- or near-top-of-the-line components & will able able to really see all the bells & whistles built into the new software?
It's unfortunately true that as games, like RTW, become "old", fewer & fewer people play them or are passionate enough about them to correspond with a forum or newsgroup (remember those?) about the game. We're hanging on kinda OK here but there has definitely been a drop off from when I first started lurking the forum shortly after RTW came out. As with other game groups, we'll probably slowly fade into the sunset. Sigh...

i got mw2 like 9 months ago and have only really played it 4 or 5 times because i love the simplicity of rome total war and how much easier it is for me :P
it will never die
it is in the top 10 100 games of all time for pc and shuld stay there as it was a bench mark for strategy games!

I won't buy ETW.
RTW will stand as long as the city it's named after.

I don't think R:TW will just fade out like that. It's too fascinating. Although I'm currently concentrating on M2:TW and may install E:TW when it comes out, I'm still thinking of reinstalling R:TW and its expansion pack if I can get rid of that odd bug that cases a CTD on entering a random battle map, just to be able to conquer Europe as a member of the Julii or Brutii factions again...

I won't be buying ETW. The time period, naval battles, and etc just don't interest me. I played M2TW for a bit and thought the graphics were neat, but the gameplay wasn't exactly fun or exciting. I know some others who feel the same so I doubt the boards will show much affect with ETW's release. CA had the magic when they made RTW, and I hope they remake it in the future.
