Hey everyone, I just bought Rome: Total War from Steam, and was wondering if anyone had any general hints/tips or ideas on what to start doing right away.
So far I've started a Julii campaign, done a ton of custom battles, downloaded a Spartan mod, and attempted to make multiplayer work.
Oh, and downloaded a Poeni Archers mod.
I've heard stuff about the Julii campaign, mainly about starting a civil war and taking on Rome. I think I read somewhere that you need to be popular with the people before you can take Rome... but right now they're not very happy with me.
Also, what should I do about the Senate? Should I listen to them, disregard them, attack them...
I'm also have some slight troubles with my army, mainly troubles with it being stretched to thin. My faction leader is out in Gaul, busy with missions from the Senate, and most the rest of my army is on Sicily battling Carthage with another mission. I had been terrorizing the Gauls, but lately they've got up the nerve to besiege one of my settlements multiple times. They aren't really that much of a threat, but then the rebel faction raised an army up out of no where right in the middle of my land!
THEN there are the always-annoying pirates, sinking all my ships and stopping my attempt at expanding around the sea. What should I do about them?
And I haven't been able to find a multiplayer option in Steam. Has anyone had that trouble, or do you use something else?
Thanks for the help
