The game may be exciting, educational (Believe it or not, some people never heard of Seclucid 'til they got R:TW), and overall fun, but the people who really like it, are the people...
1. Who never play PC games often.
2. Who are consistently lazy, and hit the 'Resolve Battle' and never see the tip of the iceberg in R:TW.
When you put alot of effort into it, only taking one province after six turns or, work on diplomacy and trade, you'll really get the feel, that you are controlling an empire, with all the power and Military you need. But if you keep taking one province after three turns, wage war with everyone and have crap Ports and Trade, then you'll fall to Rebels, bugs and sqaulor.
Rebels is a main problem for the players of R:TW, they wuss around saying that they lost Patavitium to some lousy rebels, and they have a dozen cavarly and footmen and are unbelievely hard. You should increase your ecomony rates and get better armies distributed around the area. Even I'm one of the people who are arsed to make forts in the province.
People who complain about Bugs is an even bigger issue, people who have an old computer, the men fall in the water, the archers lag like a turtle in a horserace, the Senate outlawed me and my toga buddies. Have the email function on the Offical webpage, that tells you when the patch is out. Also, getting an effects card really helps.
People who defend themselves for the reason they just have the battle fought for them, just say they are 'Crap at strategy'. Now that is just 1-2-3 RUBBISH, R:TWH has an entire category to dicuss that, so get your lazy jaws slobbering over it. I practice by using the Custom battle option, and put rounds on...
My 200. vs. 70
My 200 vs. 100
My 170 Vs. 200
And so on. You need to get your mind on the reason-rtw-exists, and get better at war strategy.
And finally, Trade. You'll always be in a sticky situation where two thirds of your empire will have incomes of less than -300, mainly Gaul. Gaul has lots of provinces, same with their nieghbours, Germainia. But what makes Gaul so great that they have good trade response from each other. If you are Julli, Bruttii or, Scippi, then make sure your starting provinces have good trade buildings. It'll save your time trying to nick another pronvince, and extermination the populace.
If you read this twice, you should be alot more intrested in R:TW. Thanks for your time.
