It's time for another story.
As a disclaimer, this is going to be the second story I have written entirely by myself, that is to say, without any co-authoring. It's loosely based on my first story, posted quite a while ago. I suppose, now, that azn is the only one old enough to remember it — "To Conquer a Legend," it was called.
"To Conquer a Legend" was written before M2TW, and medieval stories were socially unacceptable. Fortunately, such is no longer the case, as Rome is not my strong point, and "To Conquer a Legend" was eventually a dismal failure. Hopefully, this story will not be.
This is not an epic. The best way to describe it, in the words of my friend, is a "Lev Tolstoy action novel." I'm simply not a very epochal person. If you are looking for a long-winded pile of prose recounting ancient tales of bravery and strength, this isn't the place. On the other hand, if you want something akin to S. Morgenstern (in theory only, I hardly possess his genius), then this is the place.
I don't expect this to popular. In fact, I sort of don't expect anybody to read it. But I have worked on it for far too long to not post it somewhere, and this is the best place. I apologize.
Without further ado, may I humbly present, my latest work:
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
