I'm starting a Roxolani campaign, and I'm not quite sure what religion to follow.

Christianity Positives:

Better Happiness, especially over a period of time

Better Population growth

Paganism positives:

Faction already Pagan

Surrounding regions already Pagan

Less building required

Experience bonus to troops

Clearly, each has their positives, but also negatives. Which one do you recommend?

I'd go pagan so you don't have as much resistance to your occupation

Do the fun thing: go Christian, then convert to Paganism, slaughter the Christians in the name of the Old Gods, and watch as rebels pop up everywhere for your horse archers to slaughter

You could always convert later on, once you've established yourself a bit. Forge the empire pagan, then maintain it Christian.

If you convert all provinces at once you shouldn't have to deal with too many revolts, as the provinces all assist in the conversion of each other.
