Hey everyone my name is austin and i am really new to all this stuff. I just got a new laptop that runs windows vista and i successfully downloaded Medieval 2 total war gold. The problem is that the gameplay is slow as balls. It takes an hour to highlight my troops and move them halfway across the battlefield. I have been told that it is because i need XP not vista is this true? Did i just waste 30 bucks for nothing because the game is not even worth playing now. If anyone can help me i would much appreciate it. I dont know how much computer detail i need to go into but just ask if you need info. Thanks.

Austin, M2TW is a pretty big game, it ain't gonna run on a laptop very well. You'd need tons of space, and as it is I'm surprised your laptop actually could download it. Vista is fine I hear, it shouldn't effect anything about the game and it's speed. Get a faster or an actually tower and moniter set-up computer. I've got a reasonably fast computer, and the game only slows down when I have more then 25 units moving all at once, and then very little. I have a few other things installed as it's a family computer, some of them similiar to M2TW.

Hey guys, I was wondering if I could run the game, even though I have a laptop. My system specs are:

Processor: Intel Core 2 duo (1.66GHz)
RAM: 3 GB
Graphics: Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset (356 MB of memory)
Operating System: Vista

The laptop is pretty much brand new. So what do you guys think?

The specs look okay except for this bit:
Graphics: Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset (356 MB of memory)
Unless I'm totally wrong, I think that may be an integrated graphics card and it's very unlikely you'll be able to run the game without a proper graphics card.

I know my computer can run M2TW, but my question is how well?
CPU: AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT

But my achilles heal is that I have only 1 GB of RAM and I'm running Vista. Also, would a 450 watt power supply be enough?

I assume M2TW has a unit scale size like RTW had Small, Normal, Large, and Huge. So basically, could my computer run the game on basic settings? Or will I have to optimize the game towards my computers strengths?

Yeah, my graphics card is integrated, but I downloaded the demo to see for myself and it worked perfectly fine on medium settings. Still haven't tried it on high, but I doubt it'll be a lot worse...

Thanks anyways for the reply...

You're kind of skimping out on the graphics card, so no, probably not. What size monitor are you on and what resolution do you play on?

Think you're a hotshot against the Mongols? Go to the Mongolphobia mod discussions and download the mod, then, you will surely tremble with fear in the face of the Mongols. If you have suggestions/questions, feel free to make a thread. You can download Mongolphobia here. Good luck.
