Hotseat game status: - Sicily has won on turn 115

Players (in turn order): (with links to write-ups) plus some other links where I consider it to be funny

Selifator: England
Kilij Ae Varyl: Spain

Venice - FACTION DESTROYED

Me Sicily

EoJ: Turks
I think I might have referenced this video before in the first crusade
This might be more appropriate... Looks like I was right there

Rankings - Turn 101

Rankings - Turn 69

Subs
Glacier_Girl played as sub for England - T29, T30
- played as sub for Sicily - T33

Monty501 played as sub for Spain T30, T 31
JuBuOrangie played as sub for Venice - T31 to T40
Lloydsgamble played as sub for Venice T41 to 42
Brutiangodofrock played as sub for Venice T43 to T65
Zsmart one played as sub for Turks T50 to T65
Hashoosh played as sub for Turks T64

Rules to note:

No 'exploiting' of any kind (e.g. putting forts on resources and stocking them with merchants) nor reloading your go to get a better result.

If I don't hear from a player within 4 days of receiving a turn, I will try to find a sub to take the turn.

If you don't expect to be able to play within 4 days, just let me know - extensions are fine (preferably not too often though please). I'll send a reminder email after a couple of days as a prompt.

If you expect an extended absence, e.g. not being able to play for over a week, you're invited to arrange a sub, giving them instructions etc so your turn is played as you'd like it to be.

An 'un-arranged' sub has the option to take over after 2 weeks or 10 turns The '2 weeks' here looks a little low, but the turn limit looks high?

There is no way I can run rampant across Europe as things stand.

Anyway I will play tonight, my fever had finally broke.

Oh I didn't realise you were ill, hope you feel better soon. We have a good number of turns (probably years of playing time) before we get any sort of in-game plague?

It'd be quite interesting to know some more heraldry terms to have people running across Europe in different poses. Running Salient across Europe maybe (google takes the effort out of a lot of things).

Sent to Selfy.

Bloody Egyptians are staying put for some reason instead of moving away their stacks.

...and it's gone full circle back to Bandito

There seems to be quite a Venice/Turk double act here, they're both quite a bit bigger than the rest of us, but can they avoid squabbling? Possibly with a peaceful land transfer already taking place...

Who said anything about a land transfer? Besides, peace is assured by mutual assured destruction if we go to war. With my powerful navy allowing me to strike anywhere, along with the threat of crusades compared to... Bandito's plain old scariness and his 9 star faction heir. I doubt that we want to weaken ourselves for some 3rd party to sweep in during the aftermath and assimilate both our empires.

Awww.

You can't say that civilization don't advance, however, for in every war they kill you in a new way.

Chauvinism is not a particularly nice trait at the best of times but can be suicidal when the person your talking too can have you executed on a whim.

Facebook, anyone?

No land transfer? Well, the Turks owned it by the start of my go. Odd how the little spots of map from crusades stay visible afterwards

I think the reason me and Hoppy are getting along is the simple fact that we do not step on each other's toes. Settlement he wants, I have no interest in, and settlement I want he has no interest in.

I could be wrong of course and Hoppy might be on his way to attack me with 2 full stacks, aided by Sicily, hehe. I have a nasty habit of always expecting the worst case scenario. Naturally counter-measures are in place.

BTW, the turn 14 save is sent to Selfy, the English player.

Did you hear that Hoppylyte? - he's got sufficient forces ready for at least two full stacks from you - such a "counter measure" would possibly be too expensive an army to have sat idle for long...

That's the same as politicians and industrials say, and they are brought down as well.

yep, there are no politicians or industrial people any more - good ridance I say.

On a similarly off topic point - (this works better as a spoken joke, but bear with it) - the definition of politics : The word as with many is two parts stuck together:
(1) 'poly' meaning 'many'; and
(2) 'ticks' being 'blood sucking parasites'.

Bandito can stop 2 full stacks? That's nothing. Now, 3 full stacks of Knights Templar and Italian Spear militias? Not so sure.

3 stacks? Perhaps I should just quit the game now.

Anyway, warfare is merely an extension of politics, as Von Clauswitz said. One must dirty itself in politics in order to come out as the winner.

However the brilliance of warfare is that no amount of eloquence or talk can explain away a military failure. Without any power to back up the diplomat then the pen is just that. A pen.

Hm, interesting. Presumably why you don't ally with me?

By the way, lads, France is nice at this time of year. Problem is you can't get to the beaches on the west coast, as they're all blockaded by French fleets. Don't mind me while I just sort them out.

Yeah, your merchant just missed the fun, now he's sailing in the 'safe zone of Portugal. Allied ships should have moors and pirates under control, though, so you should be able to drop off your man pretty easily.
