Just throw it off a building, say you dropped it on accident.

My current PC replaced an ageing Pentium 4 about 7 months back. It's specs:
AMD Athlon64 X2 6400+ processor
Asus Crossfire motherboard w/ 1,000 MHz fsb
4 GB PC6400 DDR2 SDRAM installed
512 MB EVGA Nvidia GeForce 8800 video card
DVD R±RW optical drive
WinXP64 Pro operating system
With the possible exception of the OS (which wasn't able to accept Europa Unversalis: Rome), I just might be ready for Empire: Total War. If not, I can always switch to the latest Windows Vista OS and upgrade the video card to one which might support the latest drivers.

Me too.
I think I gotta. M2TW plays reasonably well, so long as I point my battle camera away from the settlement, and it also lags a bit on the campaign map when it's a really crowded part, like Europe. And I've had to scale down the graphics options a bit.
Computer is from 2003. (=ancient)
So, definately.

I am still debating about my current upgrades
I was thinking of buying one eVGA 280 with the 1gig of vram and than buying a dedicated sound card, or buying a second 9800GT...

Great thank you, the 280's and the 260's would burn a whole in my wallet, and the 9800GT's are such a good deal right now.

I am planning an upgrade whether or not ETW comes out. System set up is as follows:
E8500 Core 2 Duo
4gb RAM
Radeon HD 4850
I plan to overclock the E8500 to around 4Ghz.

I have a question slightly related to this thread.
While looking for an upgrade, I noticed that the more high-end the system, the higher the wattage of the power supply. One of them even had a 1000 watt supply.
Does that mean it uses 1000 watts while operating, or is that the maximum it can handle? And that the actual usage is a bit (or a lot?) lower?

Thats 1,000 watts respectively, while running.

Hehe this game comes out on my 16th birthday. I will most likely have to get a new pc after this game comes out as some of you know from my previous thread what a piece of crap laptop I have. How much money does one need to build a decent gaming computer?
