Place bug reports or requests for technical help here. Before you report a bug or issue, please look to see if it has already been reported and resolved.

Known Issues:

Game sometimes crashes when starting a battle: This can happen if you are not playing on a clean copy of RTW. Create a fresh, unmodified copy of RTW and install ATW to it (with no mods, and not using savegames from an previous install of ATW that was crashing). Look here for an example of how to install multiple copies of RTW. I suggest you create at least one clean copy of the game and keep it as a backup. Then when you want to install new mods make a copy of that for each.

No Amazon Voices On The Strat Map: These have not been implemented yet, and probably not will be any time soon.

No Amazon General Pre-Battle Speeches: Same as Voices above.

Pictures of Cities In The Lists -> Settlements Scroll All Look Generic: This is because of a visual glitch when using the non-generic city cards. It has yet to be resolved.

Amazon General Portraits Look Strange: That is because they are temporary placeholders. Permanent General portraits will come in the future. If you are a talented 2-D artist please contact me if you would like to volunteer to create new ones.

The Game Displays The Wrong Faction Destroyed Video: This is a bug from RTW that seems even more prevalent in ATW. No eta on when it will be resolved.

Please select an item from the list when you go on Imperial Campaign: Usually solved by deleting "options_bi" at the top of the descr_strat file in /data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign. Thanks to Lee_of_Thrace for the heads-up.

Does rearranging the descr-strat file to play all factions count as modding it, making it "unclean"? That's all I've done, I havent installed LOTR or XGM or anything. I am experiencing a plague of pre-battle crashes.

Gaius: It looks like you have RTW's infamous 3d Audio problem. Uninstall RTW, then go and manually delete the Miles folder (if it was not deleted during the uninstall), and then reinstall.

Titus Labienus: CTDs when entering battle are known to happen if you are not playing on a clean copy of RTW. I have had them too. But after installing ATW to a fresh, unmodified copy of RTW they have never happened.

As I said in the OP, I suggest you make a backup copy of the vanilla game. Then you can use that to install other mods on, our use to restore from if you have any problems with any of the copies of your game.

Well, now it's ok when I fight rebels but when I fight the Armenians it crashes. I also couldn't get the generals to charge a group of naked fanatics. I did it on a fresh install, I don't know what else to do.

I am not sure why it might be crashing against Armenians. I have not done anything with their unit roster. Have you noticed if it is crashing every time you are using a particular unit?

The Amazon Generals are like Eastern Generals, in that they have a missile weapon. So they start every battle set to skirmish mode and will throw javelins with a normal attack. They will only charge into melee when you use Alt + Attack.

I'm going agaonst them with 2 generals, 5 militia hoplites and I just added a mercenary HA. I got one sucessful fight in, then it crashed again during a siege. On a high note the alt+attack works well, the generals shredded some Armenee.

I will do some testing with the Militia Hoplites and the Amazon Early Generals to see if I can replicate it.

In the meantime, delete your current amazon folder and try re-downloading and installing it. Maybe something got futzed in your original download.

that's most likely a problem with your internet connection - the connection is cutting out when the download is incomplete, which for websites makes no difference but for single, unsegmented files leads to epic fail.

solutions: subrosa uploads in several smaller parts or you change internet providers.

I am having a similar problem when trying to extract the folder. It says:
No files to extract
If I open it it says:
The Compressed (zipped) folder is invalid or corrupted
Yet when downloading I received no message telling me my download had been interrupted. I know I would have done if it had been Filefront; does our downloads section have such a message?

There is something wrong with the file in our Downloads section. I just gave it a try and like Augustus, it said it was completed in an instant. The file it gave me was only 1.5 mb. It should be nearly 80. I am re-uploading now.

My guess is that the zip file is becoming corrupted when it replaces the old one on the server. I may have to create a separate entry in the Downloads section every time I release a new version, and delete the old one. I am re-uploading a new zip file now. I will test it afterward, and if it still not working I will do just that.

Edit:

I have re-uploaded the zip file for the full-version and it is working ok now. I checked the Patch and it is good as well.

Indeed!

But there are, alas, some serious errors.

Such as, what happened to that unit decription?

And dearie me, that Onager is far too big. Did you think we wouldn't notice?

And Lake Tritonis looks a bit funny where the river meets it.

Okay, so not huge, but there's nothing wrong with perfection (Well, obviously).

Edit: And one last thing, Slingers have how much bloody range?

But not to worry, I found your mistake and fixed it.

That wardog description is strange. I never touched the description for it. I see the same thing in the game myself. But this is what the code looks like:
Warhounds are bred for a savage nature and great size, but then hunting men is only a little more dangerous than hunting mountain lions! The beasts are muscular and powerful. Originally bred for hunting large prey, they are now trained to hunt and attack men. Warhounds are usually unleashed on an enemy to break a line and unnerve opponents. Few men are able to stand steadily in the face of a snarling and partially-starved beast. The hounds are trained to bite and hold on, dragging down their human targets, and hamstringing horses.\n\nTheir handlers are brave and not easily intimidated: many have fingers, hands or even chunks of limbs missing!
It looks like it is missing an \n at the very beginning.

That is the size of an Onager and a human in 3ds Max. Apparently that is how the CA thought they should be. Besides, you told me that no one would notice. So obviously you approve of them that way.

I tried extending the river, but then it looks strange too. So I settled on the least strange looking option.

All Slingers have longer ranges and do more damage. Slingers in vanilla are bloody useless with their attack of 4 and range of nothing. This way they are worth taking. I have been thinking of giving them armour-piercing across the board as well, although I will probably lower their damage slightly if I do.

I feel the same way I did after playing Stronghold 2 for about 15 minutes, like it was my birthday and all my friends had wheeled a giant birthday cake into the room, and I was filled with hopes dreams and desires when suddenly out of the cake pops out not a beautiful buxom maid, but a cranky old hobo that just shanks me then takes $60 dollars out of my pocket and walks away saying "deal, with it".

I did a reinstall and the campaign has crashed twice against the rebel cities. I'm fighting with a stack and a half that includes 3 generals many militia hoplites, 3 or 4 hoplites and a mercenary amazon archer. I love the amazon roster and economy I just can't get it to work right.

If you are playing off the old save games then no, it is not clean. Bugs you had before will most likely persist through the save. It depends on what is causing the bug.

Hey Subrosa, I played your mod back when it was 1.6 I think. Loved it, great imporvements. I also remember it was REALLY hard for me to make it work, I dont remember how I did it, but now I'm having the excact same problem: I click on the game, the car-speed thing appears, the screen goes to the old picture of the hoplites under fire and then the game crashes and closes. Do I need to update it to 1.5? Or how excactly am I supposed to arrange the files?

You need to have Rome Total War at version 1.5, and install it to an unmodded copy of the game. If not, you are going to have those kinds of problems.

Otherwise there is nothing special our unusual about how to install or run it. Unzip the amazon folder to your base RTW folder, create a new shortcut to the game, and add the -mod:amazon switch to it. It is all explained in detail in the Readme.txt file.

Also I noticed on the faction selection screen that the starting provinces for some factions are not highlighted on the mini-map. Macedon & Numidia are two of them if I recall correctly.

It sounds like it did not extract into the correct folders. Start Windows Explorer and look at your base Rome Total War folder (the one with RomeTW.exe in it). Is there a subfolder within it named amazon, alongside the data, preferences, custom, miles, etc... folders?

If it is there, then drill down to the RTW\Amazon\Data\World\Maps\Campaign folder. You should see two subfolders inside that. One named barbarian_invasion, and the other imperial_campaign. Look inside each. There should be 35 files within each, including one named descr_strat.txt. It sounds like the game is not seeing those folders or the files within.

Also, when you started it, did you see a splash screen with "Amazon Total War" written across the top?

Exactly what is happening? Still crashing before battles? You said in a different topic that you had made several modifications to RTW, including adding the Nomad culture. Are you playing ATW off the same copy of the game, or an entirely separate installation of RTW/BI?

I've seen that before in RTW where they rout an enemy (in guard mode) but keep fighting after the enemy are long gone. Usually a simple tap of the backspace key is enough to stop it so it doesn't sound like what is happening to you.
