Hey, I've tried adding the LoyaltyStarter 1 trait to non-roman Named Characters on descr_strat.txt but it doesn't do anything. Loyalty remains a Roman faction thing...
Is there a way to make non-Roman factions have this as well? Would make it more interesting.

You can try to create the trait.

See this article on how to do it.

I searched the export_descr_character_traits.txt for the LoyaltyStarter trait to see if it was limited only to Romans. It did not exist.

So make it exist.

In BI (which I'm assuming you're modding, since loyalty is only a BI thing), in my experience, only Romans have to worry about loyalty- i.e. will a given character go join up with the rebel faction, or create a new rebel faction. The only other faction that might need that would be the Goths, since you can get Ostrogoth rebels from them.

Aah, so Loyalty is a trait that can only be held by someone from a faction which has a shadowing faction?! Very interesting/disappointing. Thanks!

I thought Loyalty dropping below zero just made the character turn into a rebel (whether it was a Roman Rebel faction or just the old Rebels).

No, in BI (unlike in the base game) it's only for those with accompanying rebel factions. There's still standard bribe resistance/increased chance of acceptance, but a few of the traits are different.

Well, I tried this with the Gothic factions. Made them have the same relationship as the Roman factions.
Good news: the loyalty shows up!
Bad news: whenever you destroy the one faction with the other (so Goths with Ostrogoths or the other way round) all of your settlements and characters immediately turn over to their side and you lose! Very very strange.
