I (macedon) am defending the hill and the surrounding basin from MARCO's julian army, I start by deploying a mass of men on top of the hill while MARCO staggers his all over the basin. As he begins to advance his men are cut to pieces by archers and onagers.
Realising he wont win the hill or the basin in an all out charge, he withdrawers to the crest behind him. My cavalry begin to fein attacks and pick out or create weak spots. One unit will draw men away from a strong point, and the other two will charge the now weakened spot. (there were 2 "battle groups" doing this)
As MARCO realised what was happening he reinforced all positions in his now fragmented army and successfully took out one "battle group" with my general and two other units starting to show the effects of a few failed strikes, I withdrew to the hill. A game of waiting began and soon his army began to move.
his army was still a threat, but my archers forced his more disspirited men to flee. He then allowed his general to be drawn away from the line and forced into a fight with my whole army. His general was quickly dispatched just as his right flank made contact. His mistake here was that his three cohorts were unsupported and the largest part of his still sizeable army was marching through the basin.
As these cohorts were routed, I reformed my spear arc around my archers and slogged it out with the units that got up the hill. his onagers finally got into range and severly weakened my spearmen. Soon though his army broke and My archers and cavalry mopped up what was left. It wasn't such an awful result either. 400 or so lost, over 1500 killed.
I have just one word: boring. I blame your opponent's overall incompetence for your advantage. You pulled some nice moves, Ferret, but the battle was fairly uneventful. I spent more time spinning the camera in circles saying "Weeeeee!" than I did watching, because nothing was happening. I'm not saying you didn't do a good job, I'm just saying the battle, for somebody watching, was sluggish, without much happening for a majority of the time. There isn't really much more to say, sorry.
Who in their right mind would buy that many First Legionary Cohorts?! They're a lot more expensive and deliver the same performance as Urbans. He should have had all Urbans and upgraded them further, and just one or two First legions. Again, a testament to his incompetence.

I must say, that spinning the camera round in circles saying WEEEEEEEE is actually quite fun :-p
I was basically posting how not to fight a battle. I'll post maceheads lovely demonstration of how not to fight a seige.

Wait so you are sitting on a hill and he attacks. Then you skirmish with your cavlary a bit, and then he is tired of you camping and attacks up hill and you win? Is that it? This is not a replay of 'how not to fight'. You have done nothing worthy in this battle, at least your opponent was doing something. So him trying actually gets him the kudos. This is a pointless replay, really.
