Fire Fox carnage. (x3)

Author File Description
Gladius1of1
File Details
Number of Players: 2
Player 1's Name: Gladius1of1
Player 2's Name: Firefox
# of Denarii: 15k
I was playing at lunch time and came across the Caesar of the internet and wiped him on all 3 (ok the second game was close but only due to me not plugging a gap to start with). Also scorpions are only any good if you let someone fight at distance so I closed the distance down and removed them from the equation in the first game. Although the last game lasts a max of 30 seconds more a butchery than a fair fight.

Feed back appreciated.

3 very good examples of fair play and excellent tactics. Notice how the players are constantly aware of what is heppening all around them - on their flanks, front and rear.
I think I only ever beat Firefox once, and from what I have seen and heard, he is not one to fool around with.
Speed seemed crucial in your battles, as you quickly tried to gain advantageous ground.
A classic battle that is fun to watch, fun to study from and obviously fun for the players to play.

Additional Comments:
3 cool battles displaying superb sportsmanship and excellent tactical knowledge. Well worth a download.
Firefox, are you losing your touch? ;-)

Rookierookie Ok...where did I ever use archers? :S
Commisar Clark Oh! Dang sorry mixed up what APPEARED to be archers. My mistake - they looked like ... aww forget it I'll just edit that.
NA Lord Blaine how do u view the vidios?
Tenshi I don't know what great tactics you're talking about. All I see is a winning defender against an experimenting attacker. Before I go on explaining what I mean, I just want you to know that the victory of a defender is sometimes less majestic than the defeat of an attacker (At least in Rome TW).
(Oh, and before you tell me that I'm new and shouldn't comment on this... this is my first comment on the forum but I have seen almost all battles posted here and read many of these topics, so I was just a passive member. On we go...)

By writing this I don't (by any means) mean to defend FireFox. God knows I have been waiting a long time for a replay to see him lose (I admire him for his great battles, that is the main reason...). But I wanted to see him lose when playing at full strength. What you see here is (in my opinion) only a FireFox that was experimenting some new tactics(Especially since this scorpion tactic came up). Two obvious points, why FireFox didn't even bother to defeat you like he usually does:
1) He had no archers. If you have watched his matches, you will notice that this was rather unusual.
2) He spreaded his cavalry units. You will VERY rarely see FireFox use his Cavalry separated.

So that I don't insult Gladius, I admit that he has indeed touched FireFox weak spots and has done a great job, but only when I will see you defeat Rookierookie at his full power will I remember the name of Gladius1of1 as one of the big generals here.

(FireFox, question: Is HG a clan? Cuz I keep seeing a lot of new faces in there, so I thought it may just mean something. If it is, what do I have to do to join? Do I have to defeat somebody? -Oh, and another reason why you don't know me is because I don't have internet at home so I can't play online. I will get net in autumn. Till then you will probably forget my name, but I promise you, if you're still here, I'll make you remember).

LoL, I'd better end the comment cuz it starts to sound pretty agressive. Didn't mean it to, though.
(But before I end, I wanna say something that was on my mind for so long: How come nobody sees FireFox' weakness? Gladius1of1 did a good job, but was it knowledge or luck? Watch the Scythian Massacre of Armenia and you will undoubtly see it. And I would be happy to see a player that beats FireFox at his full strength. )

Rookierookie "1) He had no archers. If you have watched his matches, you will notice that this was rather unusual."

Well, actually, that's not all unusual; I only use archers half the time.

"2) He spreaded his cavalry units. You will VERY rarely see FireFox use his Cavalry separated."

Actually, you will. I've gone back to putting all cavalry on one flank, but I do occasionally put cavalry on both, especially when I go on the defense.

"(FireFox, question: Is HG a clan? Cuz I keep seeing a lot of new faces in there, so I thought it may just mean something. If it is, what do I have to do to join? Do I have to defeat somebody? -Oh, and another reason why you don't know me is because I don't have internet at home so I can't play online. I will get net in autumn. Till then you will probably forget my name, but I promise you, if you're still here, I'll make you remember)."

It's not a clan, and open to everyone with an internet connection.
Tydides In the game where you put a phalanx formation surrounding archers (I think it was the second game), you made the formation too tight. With all of those archers, I kept looking for arrow volleys, but there weren't any - in fact, all of your archers combined (Nine units of 80 makes 720 archers) tallied only 39 kills. Meanwhile, they sustained 396 casualties, so literally 10 of your archers died for every kill they made.

I suppose in the end you won anyway, but in future formations, if you give your archers enough room to fire you'll probably win more decisively.
