The player I faced off against dealt me a Crushing Defeat in the game previous and I wanted a rematch. I didn't want to reuse the same army as I did in the previous game, so out of my bag of tricks, I pulled out a Pre-Marian army.
I faced off against his reformed army and came out on top with my Pre-Marian army which seems to often be underestimated, probably due to the fact that Equites aren't as imposing as Praetorian Cavalry, and 10-12 units of Pre-Marian infantry (Hastati, Principes, and Trarii) don't seem quite as dangerous as 10 units of Urban Cohorts. It's an underestimation that's rarely forgiven.
This was much more interesting than your other recent pre-marian game in that it appeared to be decided less on your opponents poor tactics.
That being said, you left little time for the opponent to display any tactics at all in this match. I was so busy trying to figure out what you were doing with the unorthodox infanty formation that I had to go back to watch the cavalry skirmish, which ended up being the deciding factor. The maneuver was beautifully carried out, baiting the opponents full force on one unit of equites and using the rest to quickly surround them, sending them into a very early rout. You then crashed into his undefended general (he was probably trying to figure out your infantry formation too), which looks like it may have sent another unit into a rout.
The checkerboard infantry formation worked fairly well, baiting his troops with routing hastati and sending them right into principes, which held out until the cavalry closed in.
Fast and decisive - very nice.

That was a really enjoyable watch, and it was nice to see an actual Pre-Marius Army kick the stuffing out of the other player.
I could only wonder what the opponent was thinking when he first ran his archers forward to try to quickly kill off that unit of Hastati, and then afterwards when you won the initial cavalry battle.

Sorry, but using the latest patch, 1.3, your army gets decimated when suddenly he admits defeat. Oh well.
