I fought this battle against the computer on vh difficulty. I used Chosen Swordsmen, Swordsmen and Head Hurlers against the Greek army of Spartan hoplites, Armoured hoplites, Cretan Archers and Heavy Onagers. Im short the battle was a victory but a bloodbath all the same. On the tactic side it involved a great deal of false retreats from the slower hoplites and the Head Hurlers wer a lifesaver. Give it a watch, and any analysis would be appreciated.

Constans If you are going to upload replays, care should be taken you have the latest version of the game.

I mean the battle I just watched was fun, it's not every day you see an Eastern Rome army consisting of monks manning siege equipment, peasants (including barbarians), Moorish mercenaries, Hounds of Culann and warlords lay siege on a Burgundian army consisting of pictish crosbowman, saxon keel and noble cavalry. It's not quite what was intended though :P

All the same though I think what you described could easily be the most amusing thing I've ever heard of.

Constans I just watched it in the correct game :)

If you were trying to show a way to deal with phalanxes using barbarian races, I don't think this is really representative. Not only is this a siege, but it's also against the computer. Notice how he sends those archers in immediately without using their range to drive your headhurlers from the walls? His onagers could have done way more damage if he was more patient. Even still I think you could have kept your melee forces back untill the headhurlers had done all the skirmishing they could.

So if you were trying to train yourself in your preferred faction in the campaign game, well done. But this does not show anything special about dealing with phalanxes. Try going online and play on an open field.
