So...one of my first team battles. It was interesting as my ally was German who understood me very few (I wrote many things - use alt attack with catas, please, deploy closer and so on...nothing. Even sadder was when after wiping most of Parthian out I said "Let´s coordinate and get some shape" - he sent his eles first, in whose wakes catas went to die (with SPEARS)).
Another thing was that before battle I said: No rules - I hate them, but I expect you won´t take some spams or so - Parthian was 10 eles + general+onager+2 catas and rest were cata camels.
Enough ranting though, let´s write something about the battle. I didn´t calculate too much and deployed rather universally - after start of the game, I went into defensive shape (with empty space in my back - I hoped to lure roman cavalry here - succesfully :-)). Luckily, romans didn´t send in the rest of their army in time (which was actually long before Parthian charge) - still I believe we would manage it, but it could be very difficult. Parthian eles went on my spearheads or met them early, my ally played that part really well too.
I was relieved as I feared cata camels in desert (I hoped they would charge my bands).
After that short Parthian episode, it was obvious who will win - although we didn´t coordinate too well with my ally.
Maybe we could sustain fewer losses, but I (and I believe Germanicus too) knew that if we pay standard attention, it will suffice. It did :-)
My view can be limited though, your opinions will be welcome.
