Easy enough for me. I beat it on my first try, even tough I lost the general and had to kill the Mercenary War Elephants.
If I may offer you some advice, try to get better infantry. You should have access to post-marian legionaries, who are much stronger than eastern mercenaries. You might also want to get some roman cavalry to your army.

hey leo. im new on this site. But i want to tell you that this battle against the egyptians wasn't really hard after all.
i did it with ease!?! 32% of my men dead and 72% of their men! :) i didn't lose my general. but the elephants started to run amok but i didnt kill them because the were running through the enemy army killing a lot of them.

A nice big battle. Evenly matched in strength...but its the Egyptians and their chariots that you face in the desert. So not a foregone conclusion if you let those chariots get you.
This save worked on my V1.5 RTW yet it is a V1.3 save. Medium battle and campaign difficulty with huge unit scale.
With a few Mercenary Hoplites and Eastern Spearmen you can make an effective anti chariot wall. Benhind that your deadly archers can kill the Egyptians. Defending a hill you can weaken the enemy prior to the main infantry clash.
The Egyptian general is cavalry. Thats a relief. Take him down early with massed cavalry and elephants.
