The year is 259BC, it is a dark day in the Senate Chambers in the eternal city of Rome. The Gauls have overrun the Italian Peninsula and the Greeks have taken Sicily from out of your hands! The royal family of the Senate is far away, alone on a small island in the middle of the sea. The Masilians, your only allies on the mainland, are surrounded by barbarians who want nothing else but to see you and your people dead or enslaved.
But in this age of darkness there is also hope, you have a good sized fleet and two armies to begin your campaign. Your barbaric enemies out-number you, but your troops are superior to their's. It would not be a stretch to say the Romans may one day rule the world, but to do so they would require a great leader...

To install, first download the file and then place it in Rome - Total War/Saves.
I cannot run the save. I click on load and it comes up with the load page, then instead of coming to the map the menu page comes back...
Any ideas?

Have you downloaded the file to unlock all factions? If not then that's probably why, so go download it from Miscellaneous Files and install it. If you already have downloaded it, then I don't know what the problem is, sorry.

It's just a glitch/type-thing (best way I can describe it), there's no way around it, so whenever playing as the Senate don't go to the Senate tab...or it will crash every time as you noted.
