Thespian Hoplite

Author File Description
File Details
Game Version: All
Here is the model and texture i made for the Thespian Hoplite, a special unit for Andalus' AUP. Thanks to KLA for the kopis model and part of the shield texture (alpha channels). Anyways, free to use without my permission as long as the model remains intact and credit is given (you can change the texture if you like).

Original thread:

Note: The texture that comes with is really just a place-holder so i could position stuff correctly, it was meant to be retextured later by Andalus.

...its not a mod pack, its a mod rescource, you can use the model and texture and edit them however way you want, its not meant to be thrust into the game...
Arroganto are they muslim or something? why do they have crescents on their armour and shield? are they sword hoplites?

They were based on this but i changed the colors to that of the Greek Cities:

Old_King_CoalII I want to use this but I want to know, can I use the .MAX file for the models? Or do I need to convert it or something?

You can use the max file to edit the model but the game doesn't support max files. I don't remember if this comes with a CAS file, If it does, use that in game, if it doesn't you will need to open the MAX file in 3ds max and then export it as a CAS using Vercengetorix's plugin. If you have trouble opening the MAX file (they aren't backwards compatible and I had 3ds max 9 or 3dsmax 2008 at the time that was made) import the cas file instead and then reswve the file as max and edit at ur hearts content.
Old_King_CoalII ok thanks, I'm an aspiring modder and I want to start off easy, like texturing and the like (no moddeling yet). the trial for 3ds max dosen't work well, (I cannot start it) and I don't think it would be a good idea to buy it. Is there any other program I can use to edit the models?

Texturing can be done fairly easily with photshop and text editing. Unfortunatly photoshop also comes with a hefty pricetag so if you don't have it and don't want to spend the money you can use GIMP which is free many say is just as good as photoshop. Look around at the forums here on how to retexture. Unfortunatly there is no free alternative to 3ds max, there exist only one CAS converter for rtw and that is for 3ds max. This you won't be able to open, edit, or save any models you create. Also, modeling in 3ds max is quite complexe to learn. Mch can be done by text editing and texture editing :). Hope that helped.
Old_King_CoalII I have done some pretty good stuff with just texturing, but could you please include a cas model file in here please?
