This mod ports Rome - Total War back to an earlier era of history while keeping the basic fundamentals and feel of the vanilla game. It includes completed reskins, text changes, UI's, selection map screens, a reworked campaign map, and faction banners/symbols for those that are changed, plus many other minor tweaks and alterations to enhance gameplay. The mod takes place in the year 549BC and includes the following factions:
Phoenicians
Carthaginians
Greek City-States
Persian Empire
Chaldean Empire
Egyptians
Lydian Empire
Roman Kingdom
Etruscans
Celts
Illyrians
Scythians
Thracians
Iberians
Numidians
Britons
Germans
Extract and follow the readme.
This is modfoldered and will not affect your original game files.
Version 1.1 contains fixed religious buildings for certain eastern factions and new unit Immortals for Persia. |

Its pretty good. The only problem i could see with it is Roman hoplites disappearing when zoomed out.
How did you change the colour of the loading screen and how can you make an ordinary picture look like that with only 2 colours |

I used photoshop for all the graphical work. There are plenty of tutorials online. ;)
Hm, I must have forgot to assign the hoplites a sprite. If any major problems or ideas for additions arise I will fix that in a later version. For now it is minor enough to stay, but thanks though. :) |

i really like it,
maybe you could try to make it a little more historical accurate,
par example: the etruscans had a city at corsica, but in game it is just a port that belongs a city on the northern halve of sardinia,(might get unbalanced if you try to change map regions)
or the fact that the etruscans ingame have the same gods as the greeks, they had their own god though
but that is al up to you,
i will play it any way because i really like it
it is not a review but i would give it a 4 out of 5

Like deadbuddy said, it is not very historically accurate. The Romans did not even exist in 5000BC. They were the Latins. And the Latins did not even move to Italy before around 1000BC. I gathered this information on wiki in about 5 minutes.

I have fixed the Etruscan religious buildings which will appear in the next release.
The colony on Corsica wasn't taken over by the Etruscans until a little after the start of the mod.
Lastly, the mod takes place in 549BC not 5000BC. ;)[Edited on 01/23/10 @ 11:34 AM]

Great job! this mod is very good, but you can make more in this mod, but you have to make more job in the mod, the units in the screeshot dissapear in the battle map, and the info of many buildings, with the phoenicians, the naval temple don't have info.
Additional Comments:
Any ways, your job is very good and i give you my congratulations, one more thing, if you like, i'm going to make to your mod a expansion, only if you want, because i know how to add info to buildings and i can create new units and change the descr_model_battle text file, and give new textures to the units, make aliances in the descr_strat text file, the carthaginians was allied with the phoenicians, and etrurians was the governors of the romans, but not for much time, if you like, i can make a expansion for your mod, like a keep. ;) |

Sorry for the criticism.
Modding is very hard, and there very few people who can do it whith such great skill. Though this is not the best modpack, it is good and has required a lot of work. Did you do this alone? If you did, I think you are one of the best modders in rtw.
Just one thing:
Shouldn't the Celts be Gaul?
I mean, Celts also include the Britons and Iberians. You can leave this the same, rename the Celts the Gauls or include the Britons and Iberians in this faction and make some new factions.[Edited on 03/01/10 @ 01:38 PM]

No worries, its not criticism. I did do this all myself, though I am far from the best RTW modder ;)
Go to this link: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=319951 for version 1.2 which adds the Gauls as a small sub-faction of the Celts. I understand what you are saying though, but since the mod isn't focused on the barbarian tribes nor were they united at all during this period, they must simply be portrayed with generic titles i.e. Iberians, Britons, Germans, etc. based on their location. The gauls were added in version 1.2 simply because they already existed in the game and just for fun. :)[Edited on 03/01/10 @ 09:07 PM]
