Opening Moves - Britons

By Adder.

There are two ways to play the Britons. The first is to blitz your enemies as quickly as possible attacking pretty much all out and the second is to sit back on your island and build up. As the second way is rather easy to play this guide will detail the first way.

This guide was written while playing on the hardest difficulty level. It applies to all levels of play, however.

Objectives:

Capture what is now known as Ireland and attack the Gauls on the mainland without mercy.

First turn

Buildings to build:

All cities - Temple of choice, I advise the temple to Andrasra in Londinum and Samarobriva because they allow the creation of Woad Warriors and these two cities will be the most active in creating military units to start off.

Units to train:

  • Samarobriva - Warband - You'll need them later.
  • Londinium - Barbarian Peasants - You'll need a garrison. Other training of Barbarian Peasants is optional, I advise against it however because they're not quite worth it.

First turn moves:

Ship near Londinum - Move to the area shown in the screenshot:

Move all the units in all your cities except for a Peasant garrison to the area where your ship is going. Londinum will move all its units and Samarobriva will move none. You do this so that all your units will be ready to be picked up and brought to the mainland after capturing Ireland.

Move your diplomat to the west towards Germania, you'll want them to be an ally.

That's it for your first turn.

Second Turn

Buildings to build:

All cities - Roads.

Second turn moves:

Continue all your moves towards their respective destinations.

That's it for your second turn.

Third Turn

Buildings to build:

Londinum - Trader.

Third turn moves:

At this point you should be able to get everyone on the boat and begin to move it towards Ireland.

Also continue to move the diplomat.

That's it for your third turn.

Fourth Turn

You probably can't build or train any buildings or units, if you can by all means do so, I could not, however.

Fourth turn moves:

Land your ship and lay siege.

Continue to move the diplomat.

That's it for your fourth turn.

Fifth Turn

You probably can't build or train any buildings or units, if you can by all means do so, I could not, however.

Fifth turn moves:

Attack Tara, you should be able to win easily. Enslave the populace

Continue to move the diplomat.

That's it for your fifth turn.

Now what?

Well now that you've captured Tara you will probably want to stay there for a turn. Train a small garrison and leave, heading south towards Condate Redonum. Your diplomat will arrive in a German city shortly and you should negotiate with them. Choose which city near Samarobriva is to your liking and attack it. Personally I'd go for Trier but it's up to you.

Good luck!
