One General with 4 stars, no exp or weapon. 4 Round Shield Cavalary, 1 with 3 bronze chevron, no weapon (none of the army had weapon or armor upgrades.) The other 3 had two bronze chevron. 2 balearing slinger, 3 b. chevron, 2 skrimirshirs, 2 b. chevron. 2 town watch, 2 iberian infantry, no chevron on any.
I was defending the city with its wooden walls when a full army of 1800 Gauls attacked, half of them swordsmen, and half of them warband.
The Battle Ratio, I believe was 2 to 15, with them obviously having 15 and I 2.
Obviously I was at a loss for words, since this was right after I destroyed a Gaul army of 800 and my army wasn't very healed up. So immediately I sent two armies from Sicily ( I conquered all three cities so all I needed to keep there was a small army to fend off the occasional groups of Scipi Hastati.) and mainland Carthage. Army from Carthage consisted of my faction leader along with 8 groups of mixed round and long shield cavalary with no chevrons and upgrades in armor and weapons. The army from Sicily composed of my best general (7 or so stars) along with 10 groups of round shield cavalary, all with 2 or more silver chevrons and one upgrade in weapon. The city was going to sustain a seige for 5 turns, and it seemed a race as to whether my ships would get there first or the 5 turns would run out.
Now obviously, the computer wouldn't wait all 5 turns, and two turns later or so when my ships were halfway there, the gauls attacked with 4 battering rams. With a sad heart, I started the battle, thinking to take out as many as I can and revenge the defenders with my incoming army. The deployment was as such.
< < When the battle started, the three left most rams attacked the direct wall in front of them while the one on the right seemed to go the opposite way. I decided to ignore the fourth one since there was no way I was goign to try to defend all four punctures. The first puncture in the wall was in the middle at the main gate, where all four of my Infantry were guarding it so they kept it pretty stable. The gauls had about 6 infantry units trying to come in through the wall, but fortunately, they couldn't come in to overpower me with their numbers. The second and the third punctures at the left and the right side of the main gate occurred at approximately the same time, at which when they attacked, my cavalary immediately blocked it off much like my infantry had done at the main gate. At this point, the 4th battering ram on its way around my town stopped and dropping the ram, rushed at the existing punctures. For about a minute or so, there was continuous melee, which I fought thus: In the end, I killed all 1800 or so Gaul, and lost only 71 men of mine, of which 40 were simply town militia. Ah well, didn't need them anyway. It was, I think, aptly called a Heroic Battle.

At the middle, I simply had the infantry stand with my general behind them to rally in case of rout. THe infantry seemed to be holding well. At the left and right parts where my cavalry was defending this is how I did it. since there were two cavalary on each wall, I had one cavalary defend the one in continuous wall while the second cavalry charged, marched back, charged and so on. The gauls on the left seemed to be faltering after the continous charges, so I had my archers concentrate their fire on the gauls on the left, and I had my general join the fray on the left. When my general attacked, the gauls on the left fell into immediate rout. I decided to ignore the fleeing gauls, except for the two skirmirshirs (who by that time ran out of ammo) I sent after them so they the gauls wouldn't regroup. THe two groups of cavalary and the general exited through the puncture, and charged at the unprotected flanks and backs of the center Gaul army. Just as they were making contact with the enemy, the gauls on the right puncture also started routing, and the two cavalry that were there came around to strike the center army from the other flank. At this point, the center also crumbled, and soon the entire Gaulish army was in retreat. I sent all my cavalry charging after them and I ended up killing every single of them.
Now at the end of this, I was still pretty pissed off with myself... What the hell was I supposed to do with the two massive armies that were on their way, for which I had stripped Sicily and Mainland Carthage?
I Win, You Lose, Thank You, Good Day Sir.
