My army consisited of ( all units at full strenght)
2 mercenary gual light infantry units.
3 Roma light cavalry units.
1 unit of veletai
1 unit of mercenary greek hoplites
1 General (3 stars)
11 units of leginnairs.
The Gaularmy consisited of roughly 1300 men consisting of light infanty , haevy infantry , archers , and a few skirmishers and a general.
I outnumbered them roughly 2 to 1.
The was no doubt in the victory its just the way that it was achieved made me smile.
i moved my unit of veletai at the front of the army , right in front of the phalanx of spearmen .
on either flank of the mercenary phalanx i had a unit of Gual mercenaries. Behind all of this i fromed 2 lines of legionnaires with order to fire at will. behind these stood my archers.
i also decided to send my light cavalry (3 units) way out and outflank the enemy from the back encercling them with my army at the front and cav at their back.
when the game began my cavalry began to outflank them whilst the Guals began a full out attack on my infantry.
The Gaul General began charging at my velaites and they had to run behind my lines ( they didnt rout and none of them got killed).
They ran to the safety of my forces and only then did i realise that i had pulled of something great.
the enemy general (cavalry) crashed into my spearmen phalanx and within 5 seconds 40 of his men were dead including the general himself and the remaining 8 horses fleeing for their lives. This had also made 2 light infantry units rout ( partially because they were welcomed with a shower of javelins which wiped out nearly half of them).
Meanwhile my light cavalry finished of the General ( since they wree behind the Gaul force they were able to intercept him).
After that i began advancing the three units at the rear of the gaul force. Meanwhile the routing Gaul infanty (light) attacked again my mercenary Gauls and a fight broke out with half of one of my mercenary units dying. However the Gaul infantry also ran away accompanied by a shower of javelins from the legiannaries and arrows from my cretian archers.
Meanwhile my cavalry had reached the Gaul force with one unit splitting of to destroy fully the routing light infanty and the other 2 units playing a 'game' with the gaul heavy infantry where one unit 'ran away' from them drawing the gaul attention away from my other cavalry force which slammed into their rear routing them.
This happended to both of the gaul heavy infanty units and any other remaing unit on the field.
After looking at the statistics i thought to myself that this closely resembled a battle between america and some kind of 3rd world country.
the enemy lost all 1328 men with no survivers and had killed 50 of my men. Looking at my force i saw i lost rouhly 100 men ( 3 light cav, 4 spearmen and rest mercenary gauls).
I then remembered that my leginnaries had kept on firing on the enemy even when they were engaged with my own men resulting in friendly fire killing more men than the enemy ( im sure american generals can associate with this
