I think the title says it all. Are there any fun mods for the original MTW.

I know of some mods, i cant say whether they are fun or not as i havent played most of them, but they sounded interesting.

Napoleonic Total War, from

Hellenic Total War

i think this is the same sort of era as RTW, although im not exactly sure.

MTW XL

a great mod that adds a whole host of new factions like Scotland and Armenia, provinces like Savoy in France and Murcia in Spain and units like clibinarii for byzantines and norman knights for sicily etc. This is the one im currently playing, and highly recommend it, but the other two sound interesting and are worth checking out as well.

All mods require VI as well.

Napoleonic Total War is strongly recommended by me.

I would love to get XL, but I still need to get Viking Invasion (I am getting it soon, me thinks, it is needed)

To be honest, vanilla MTWI is the only vanilla total war game that I find satisfactory enough to play by itself. That being said, still want XL mod!

Luckily, I got the Box Set which has all of the expansions included for all pre-M2TW games. I've only tried Shogun so far, but I'll eventually give Med I a shot (with the Viking Expansion because I love Vikings).

Napoleon Total War is a very good mod but I found the Viking expansion really was the best addition you could get.

Prince, MTWI is the best game, with the best (and most decisive) AI out of all the Western based games (I never played Shogun)

EDIT: Check out the describe your campaigns thread, for some examples of MTWI greatness.
