I'm the Julli family and am in the middle of a fierce war with the gauls which I am easily winning, because I am kicking their ass and have most of there settlements apart from the big cities they wont fight me..so I was wondering if it would be a good move to invade Greece (on the advice of a friend) for easy money while the gauls wont attack me?

Yes, I've just gone the Trace & Dacia route. Those green Romans beat me to greece. I've just crossed the entrance to the Black Sea to continue that way. Gone down to Hallicarnassus - first time I've ever held a Wonder.

I would do that, I have the army to, but I don't think it's a good idea at the moment, there is lots of plague and rioting, plus my fleet keeps getting it's ass kicked so I need more and i'm still pretty low on money...Does that make a difference?

Greece, Macedon and the islands. Whatever you can take there. This will limit the expansion of the Brutii. Also see whether you can beat the Scipii to Carthage. Then finish off Gaul and Spain and prepare for the civil war.

To make it more interesting you could leave greece and africa to brutii and scipii respectively, it is much more fun fighting a strong enemy then a weak one

I'd recommend making straight for spain. It is easy to take and the mining can generate a lot of money. From there go straight for Egypt and then work your way along Africa until you meet the Scipii. Also try to take some of the Seleucid territories as they have a lot of money. From there build a large empire in Asia Minor. As a result you will hold all the richest places apart from Greece. You will have hemmed in the Brutii and Scipii and from there launch one knockout blow attacking Greece from both sides and attack Sicily. From there launch a double attack on Africa from Sicily and your territories in Africa. The other Roman families will crumble and the world will be yours.

I'll bear that in mind for the future, but now spain is nearly all gaul, and I've just got to Greece and taken my first city...

Gaul has taken them? Good, gauls are easy to beat with elephants.

Yuri, unlike AOE, in RTW mining does NOT generate a lot of money. Trade does. To give you an example - a Greek city with a temple of Hermes or a Roman one with a temple of Mercury will generate more money than All the mines in Spain, if you have a sea port and control Rhodes.

I'm going to leave gaul for a while, I've got 5 greek cities and I will pick off the easy ones, then i'll build my army for a while and take what I can from the briton/brutti feeding frenzy of gaul

I wouldn't call Spain poor. Mining may not provide as much money as trade, but it still is very helpful. Don't underestimate it. It's realy helped my carthaginian campaigns.
