Just wondering what's your contruction strategy, do you have any priorities when it comes to constructing certain buildings from a fairly new conquered city or a big one already established. Perhaps you always like to designate one city as your retraining or military city. Share them and perhaps we can pick up a few tips from eachother.
As for me, I always like to develop the basic needs for a city to develop, then safety and the economy, so my priorities are like this:
1. Wooden palisade
2. Paved roads
3. Land clearance
4. Port
5. Trader
6. Mines (if available and if I have the money early on, this thing costs 2,000 denarii!)
7. Barracks
8. Shrine (sometimes I neglect this one because I might not need it, but I just build it because it's cheap and only takes 1 turn)
Then following the city upgrades, I would change the orders based on my needs of the times, sometimes I look at the detailed city screen so see what the city needs. I always like to designate my biggest city (sometimes the capital) as my military city where I dedicate the contruction of military buildings and I re-train my troops there. But as I expand that city is too far from the front and then that becomes a problem so I just create a mini-military city closer to the front. I always keep in mind how much money I have because early on the game I'm always running low on denarii.
